In many instances though not necessarily always you will want the gutter and downpipe sizes to be the same for all gutters and downpipes on the project. There are three types of drain systems on a flat roof. Design approach for a given roof configuration the first task is to decide on the number and location of downpipes as this will determine the size of the effective roof areas. Determining the exact roof area and the number of drains is precise work so it requires coordination with the building s architect. This form of roof drainage is preferred if a clean exterior appearance is desired.
